12:30 p.m. Lunch The Cecil Steakhouse

Event Details:

Harlem Gospel Walking Tour visits one of Harlem’s most historic churches, showcases soul-stirring gospel music and the power of prayer, and features a multimedia cultural sightseeing walking tour designed to convey the overall history of Harlem and the contribution churches and religious make to Harlem regularly—even beyond wonderful gospel music.

The group will walk short a distance from the Harlem Heritage Tourism and Cultural Center to a historic local church, led by a guide born and raised in Harlem. Afterwards, our guide will show us the sights, including locations that highlight Harlem's music, art, culture, food, architecture, and politics. Our guide will convey 400 years of Harlem history, and we'll learn what makes it the community it is today!

After the tour, we'll head to our group lunch at the Cecil Steakhouse.

Joining us for the day will be Fordham's own Mark Naison, Ph.D., professor of history and African American studies. Professor Naison has extensive experience in this field, and we're so excited that he is joining us for the event!

This event costs $105 per person, which includes the tour and lunch. There is also a special young alumni (class years '09 - '18) discount for $65 per person.

An email reminder with meeting details will be sent to all registrants one week prior to the event. Please reach out if you have any questions!

Please note that the tour runs rain or shine.
