Featured Guests

The Religious of the Sacred Heart of Mary and Cormaria Retreat Center board of directors have appointed Joan McGovern the new director and administrator of Cormaria. McGovern succeeds Ann Thaddeus Marino, RSHM, who is retiring at the end of August. Sister Marino served as Cormaria Retreat Center’s director for the past 40 years, extending hospitality and spiritual direction to people of all faiths and walks of life. Join us at Founder’s Day to hear more from McGovern on her new role at Cormaria.

Phyllis Zagano, MC '69, is a senior research associate in residence in Hofstra University's Department of Religion. Zagano has written and spoken on the role of women in the Roman Catholic Church and is an advocate for the ordination of women as deacons. Her writings have been translated into Indonesian, Czech, French, Italian, Portuguese, and Spanish. She was appointed to Pope Francis’s first commission on the diaconate in 2016 and was a guest speaker at the Loyola Institute Trinity College Dublin’s seminar on synodality in 2023.

This event costs $40 per person. We will be supporting the R.S.H.M. Center again this year. View their Christmas list.
