Development Captains

Modeled after the tried-and-true Class Agent program, the Athletics Development Office is rolling out a Development Captains program.  Development Captains are former student-athletes committed to supporting Fordham Athletics and their former sport with their philanthropy. The Captains will be instrumental in helping Fordham Athletics Development team members with their annual fundraising goals with peer-to-peer solicitation of their former teammates.  Even though your time on the field, the court or in the pool has expired, you can still be a leader in the Fordham community. As Vince Lombardi said, “The measure of who we are is what we do with what we have.”

  Specific Responsibilities:

-          Contact 10 or more former teammates through telephone calls, emails, or letters at least twice a year to ask for their participation in your respective sport's fundraising effort

-          Update your former teammates about Fordham Athletics, your specific sport and provide feedback on your teammates' interests and concerns back to the Development Office

-          Encourage attendance to games and alumni events

-          Thank your teammates for their participation and gifts

-          Make your own annual gift to support Fordham Athletics

Why Volunteer?

-          It is a great opportunity to “give back” above and beyond what you can contribute financially

-          Re-connect with former teammates and re-establish old friendships

-          Many may see this as a great networking opportunity

-          Help build a stronger culture of philanthropy within the alumni and student-athlete community

-          Have access to inside information on the state of Fordham Athletics and the Development Office's fund raising plans – short and long term

-          Be a sounding board and influencer for the Athletic Department
